24 Frames Project

The Creation

My 24 frames project is named “The Creation”; it’s a series of artwork involving multiple elements associated with nature and freedom, such as water and plants, birds and mists. I named it “The Creation” because my overall idea for this project is to create a series of dreamlike, fantasy, colorful pieces which involve elements of nature and also associate with art. Then I realized the best name for this project would be creation, since both nature and art is a process of creation.

Key Frames

White birds scattering out of dark smoke
A face in profile, half muted blue and half saturated coral, with birds crossing the eye
A figure in a coral dress against dark ground, ringed by pale blue cloud
The same figure turning into pale blue sky and cloud
A blonde figure seen from behind facing a blush-pink colonnade and pool
A pale sculptural figure curled inside an arched panel of blue water

My choice of color is to use a combination of soft pastel colors and black/white in order to increase contrast and visual interest. Pastel colors always give a clean and romantic feel, they may also evoke feelings of peace and calmness, which is well associated with my theme of the work.

Initial Idea

My goal for this project is to explore colors and angles. I explored lots of new extreme angles and tried to import motion into art in this project, which I usually don’t do. It was overall a fairly challenging task for me to finish 24 frames of art in this limited amount of time since I love to focus on details. In the beginning I did make everything detailed and perfect, then I realized I would never have enough time to finish if I continue like this, so I came up with the solution to shrink the size of some frames that aren’t so important, so I got a chance to use different brushes and techniques to draw. This solution not only increased my speed, it could also make my final display more interesting, so it’s not just 24 exact sized frames laid out.
